DKS Logistic Service

DKS Logistic Service was established in 1994 by Paul Dalm. During the first years, the business was primarily targeted towards providing courier services. Thanks to their highly customer-oriented focus, they soon received requests for logistics services besides courier services. The company developed into a logistics service provider that provides warehousing and value-added logistics as well as transport. On the Ecofactorij industrial estate, where the A1 intersects the A50, DKS has a large secure warehouse with loading docks and everything a modern warehouse site needs. 45 employees work at DKS.

Specialisation: night-time transport

One of their in-house specialities is night-time transport. Dalm says: ‘Few logistics companies specialise in this type of service. The Netherlands has five such companies. Night-time transport is becoming increasingly popular in the Netherlands. Many businesses want to deliver just in time, and anything ordered today can be delivered the following morning via night-time transport. It also has the advantage of fewer tailbacks, which results in a reduction in CO2 emissions (10%). Almost 50% of our 50,000 freights are transported “at night”’.

Not only the customer benefits. The company can also use their vehicles more efficiently with transports during the day and night. This allows them to optimise the capacity of their modern and energy-efficient fleet (all engines meet Euro 5 or higher emission standards). DKS Logistic Service’s fleet includes a wide range of vehicles, from a Volkswagen Caddy to articulated lorries with a load capacity of up to 40 tonnes, and rear-loading and curtain-sided trucks, with or without a tail lift.

Many customers are located nearby, convenient when adapting quickly to changing situations, as is often the case in the transport industry. Some customers are located further away and in the surrounding countries. DKS provides European road transport services for these customers, with a focus on Germany and the Benelux. Their modern IT systems allow customers to follow their freight in real-time with track & trace services.

In DKS’ 10,000-m2 warehouse, the goods are stored and transferred. Other services, such as packaging labelling and getting goods ready for shipment, also take place here. The company works closely with partner SILS for e-commerce logistics solutions.

Dalm expects his business to grow steadily, but growth should not be an end in itself: ‘We value our customers, and we don’t want them to experience any inconvenience from our ambitions for growth or any hiccups along the way. I am proud of our highly committed team and the level of performance and service they provide for our customers every day.”
